The SBSCO. backpack is finally here!!! After 10 years of working with leather, I finally came up with a design that I love. Roll tops have always been a personal favorite, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that into the final design.
The Roll Top is made entirely out of full grain vegetable tanned leather. There is absolutely no stitching on the entire bag. Instead, I used solid copper rivets, 47 of them, to hold this entire bag together. Why did I ditch the stitching? A few reasons. The biggest reason was to make this bag as affordable as possible. Stitching, especially hand stitching takes a lot of time. The rivets save me hours of bench time. They are also ridiculously strong, stronger than a stitch and they add a beautiful detailed look to the bag.
The bag is made out of 3 different weights of leather. The body is made up of Hermann Oak split hide, dyed black and finished inside and out with our in house made Curing Preserve (made of beeswax, castor oil, mezcal and clove). The roll top is made out of 3/4 oz. Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather and the straps are made out of 8/9oz Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.
There are no buttons or snaps on this bag. You simply roll the top and tug on the straps to keep the bag shut. This is my personal favorite feature of the bag. It makes it so easy to open and close. No annoying buckles or snaps that will eventually break.
The Roll Top includes chest/waist straps that are completely removable if you're not into that. It just helps hold the bag closer to you if you are walking for a while, riding a bike or a motorcycle.
• Dimensions: 18" x 16" when rolled tight. 22" x 16" when filled to the rim.
• The straps are 1 1/4" wide and connect to 3/4" wide adjustment straps.
• Made from Hermann Oak leather split hide and Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.
• Riveted by hand with solid copper rivets so you can rely on it.
